We will initially experience the life structures of the upper appendage followed by a conversation of the burst biceps ligament, heterotopic hardening lastly method of activity of indomethacin. Learning Objectives 1. Osteology of the upper appendage with accentuation on the elbow and wrist 2. The neurovascular flexibly to the upper appendage 3. Developments conceivable at joints of upper appendage and the scope of developments conceivable with respect to the elbow and wrist and the muscles that achieve these activities. 4. Break of distal biceps ligament 5. Heterotopic solidification 6. Method of activity of Indomethacin 1. Osteology of the upper appendage with accentuation on the elbow and wrist Arm The humerus is the biggest and longest bone of the arm district associating the shoulder to the lower arm. Proximally, the leader of the humerus explains with the glenoid hole of the scapula shaping the glenohumeral joint. Distally the humerus expresses with the two bones of the lower arm, the ulna and span. The humerus is appeared in more detail in figure 1 underneath. Figure 1 Humerus (1) For Anilââ¬â¢s case we will concentrate a few unmistakable highlights on the distal district of the humerus which structures some portion of the elbow. There are two projections on either side of the distal finish of the humerus which are the average and horizontal epicondyle. The average epicondyle secures the ulnar nerve which passes just posteriorly and furthermore fills in as the connection site for the lower arm shallow flexor muscles. The parallel epicondyle on the other hand is the connection site for the lower arm extensor muscles. Anteriorly in the middle of these two epicondyles are two articular surfaces: the round surfaced horizontal capitulum which expresses with the range and the spool formed average trochlea which verbalizes with the ulna. Likewise anteriorly, the outspread fossa legitimately over the capitulum obliges the leader of the sweep during flexion of the elbow while the coronoid fossa straightforwardly over the trochlea suits the coronoid procedure of the ulna during flexion of the elbow. Both the spiral and coronoid fossa limit flexion of the elbow. Posteriorly, the olecranon fossa suits the olecranon procedure of the ulna during augmentation of the elbow. The olecranon fossa forestalls hyperextension of the elbow. Lower arm The lower arm is comprised of two bones: ulna and range. Proximally both of these bones articulate with the humerus though distally just the sweep legitimately verbalizes with the carpals of the wrist in this manner associating the arm to the wrist. The ulna and range are appeared in figure 2 underneath. Figure 2 Radius and Ulna (1) The ulna The ulna is the settling bone of the lower arm and is average and longer of the two bones. There is a projection anteriorly at the proximal end called the coronoid procedure which fits into the coronoid fossa during elbow expansion. Posteriorly on the proximal finish of the ulna is the olecranon procedure (which shapes the noticeable quality of the elbow) which fits into the olecranon fossa during elbow augmentation. The articular surface between the olecranon and the coronoid verbalizes with the trochlear of the humerus and gives the developments of elbow augmentation and flexion. The span The span is the sidelong and shorter of the two bones. The leader of the sweep is a level catch molded procedure that explains with the capitulum of the humerus. The neck of the span is a choking only distal to the head which Anil has cracked. Because of the way that no neurovascular issues were discovered, it is protected to reason that the profound part of the spiral nerve was not harmed for this situation. The outspread tuberosity is distal to the neck on the front site which is the connection point for the ligament of biceps. Wrist The ulna doesn't straightforwardly verbalize with the carpal bones of the wrist distally. There is an articular plate between the littler distal leader of the ulna and the carpal bones. The range legitimately explains with the scaphoid and lunate carpal bones on its bigger distal end. This is appeared in figure 3 beneath. Figure 3 Wrist joint (1) 2 The neurovascular flexibly of the upper appendage Blood vessel flexibly The upper appendage is provided by the subclavian conduit which branches off from the brachiocephalic trunk on the privilege and aortic curve on the left. The subclavian vein reaches out from its inception to the horizontal fringe of the primary rib. It at that point changes its name to the axillary corridor which reaches out to the sidelong fringe of teres major after which it turns into the brachial supply route. The brachial supply route stretches out to the cubital fossa of the elbow where it bifurcates into the spiral and ulnar vein which run down the horizontal and average side of the lower arm individually. These two veins anastomose in the palm of the hand framing the shallow (for the most part provided by ulnar conduit) and profound (chiefly provided by outspread supply route) palmar curves. The fingers are provided by the advanced supply routes spreading from the palmar curves. The blood vessel flexibly is delineated in figure 4 underneath. Figure 4 Arterial gracefully of upper appendage (2) Venous gracefully There are two primary sorts of veins in the upper appendage. Right off the bat, shallow veins which can be seen subcutaneously. There are three fundamental shallow veins which are the cephalic (horizontally), basilic (medially) and middle cubital (association among cephalic and basilica at the cubital fossa) veins. The shallow veins are appeared in figure 5 beneath. Figure 5 Venous gracefully to upper appendage (3) Furthermore, there are profound veins which for the most part goes with the corridors two by two and have a similar name as the supply routes. Puncturing veins associate the shallow and profound veins to permit blood to consistently discover a route back to the heart. All the veins in the end depletes into the axillary vein, at that point to the subclavian vein, at that point brachiocephalic vein lastly into the heart through predominant vena cava. Apprehensive gracefully The brachial plexus fills in as the nerve flexibly for the upper appendage emerging from spinal nerve roots from C5, 6, 7, 8 and T1. There are 5 terminal parts of the brachial plexus in the arm. Table 1 underneath shows the five terminal nerves with their comparing roots, engine flexibly, tangible gracefully and clinical test. Table 1 Nerves, comparing roots, engine flexibly, tactile gracefully and clinical test (4) 3 Movements conceivable at joints of upper appendage and the scope of developments conceivable concerning the elbow and wrist and the muscles that achieve these activities. The elbow comprises of three joints: the humeroulnar joint from the trochlear score of the ulnar to trochlear of humerus, the humeroradial joint from the leader of the span to the capitulum of humerus and the prevalent radioulnar joint from the leader of the sweep to the outspread indent of the ulna. The humeroulnar and humeroradial joints take into account flexion and expansion of the elbow though the predominant radioulnar joint takes into consideration pronation and supination. This happens when the leader of the sweep which is encased in annular tendon traverses the fixed ulna bone. The muscles that move the elbow are appeared in table 2 underneath: Table 2 Main muscles of elbow (5) Developments and reaches for the elbow and wrist are appeared in table 3 beneath: Table 3 Movements and extents for elbow and wrist (6) 4 Rupture of distal biceps ligament Side effects Side effects remember growing for the front of the elbow, extreme agony at the elbow and a lump in the upper arm on account of the abbreviated biceps brachii muscle. Since Anil shows no biceps ligament reflex upon appraisal, this is probably going to be a finished break of the ligament. Cause For this situation, Anil is analyzed to have cracked his distal biceps ligament which connects to the spiral tuberosity. Distal biceps ligament burst will in general be brought about by a solitary horrible accident including flexion of the elbow at a correct point against obstruction. For Anil, the snapping of the rope made his elbow fix out of nowhere. His biceps contracted extra difficult to keep this from occurring however the outrageous pressure in his biceps and ligament prompted the break of the distal biceps ligament. Treatment Since Anil is still moderately youthful at 38 years of age and still needs full utilization of his upper appendage, the careful treatment choice is generally liked. Now and then the ligament is connected by sewing through gaps made in the bone. Anyway the medical procedure for Anil was finished by appending the ligament deep down utilizing a little metal plate and screws into the span to make sure about the plate for the most part called the endobutton strategy (7, 8) which has a generally excellent anticipation of recapturing full portability in the elbow. Confusions Confusions after the medical procedure incorporate nerve harm and heterotopic hardening. Following two months Anil came back with solidness, trouble in turning his hand over and wrist torment which the specialist analyzed as heterotopic hardening after palpation of a firm mass along the biceps ligament. Direct mediation was not taken as the biceps ligament required chance to completely mend. 5 Heterotopic solidification Heterotopic solidification is the development of bone in irregular places, for example, delicate tissue. Heterotopic hardening is a remarkable entanglement of distal biceps ligament fix. The current proposed pathogenesis of how heterotopic hardening emerges is the change of pluripotential mesenchymal cells which are enrolled to the break recuperating site into osteoblasts that outcomes in ectopic bone arrangement. (9) Bone, ligaments and tendons which are altogether connective tissue all offer the equivalent mesenchymal immature microorganism starting point (appeared in figure 6) and in this manner mesenchymal undeveloped cells enrolled to advance ligament fix can separate into osteoblasts. Osteoblasts can likewise be pulled out of the bone when the ligament cracks and along these lines can prompt bone testimony. However, we live in the real world and not the perfect world. The real admission world, just like the real policy world, can be a bit tricky. With numerous people reading files and some subcommittees meeting to discuss certain applications in more detail it is a balancing act. When applications are confirmed as complete they are assigned to readers and begin the review journey. Readers belong to three general groups: faculty, students, and administrators. Each group brings their own viewpoint to the table so there is nice balance. After the readers have filled out their review sheets and discussed their feelings about each candidate with other readers the files are divided into three major groups. Let me elaborate on the process by describing the following picture Pile #1 is representative of applications where there is unanimous agreement among Committee members. I would say that about 60-65% of applications fall into this group. Pile #2 represents those where the reviewers of the file did not entirely agree and they have asked for additional review by a Senior Member of the Admissions Committee prior to making a final decision. Approximately 20-25% of applications fall into this category. Pile #3 represents those who the readers believe should be considered for first year fellowship awards â" approximately 15-20%. These files take longer to process because they have to go through additional rounds of meetings by the Fellowship Committee. Reviewing applications is not an exact science and decisions may not go out in the simple 1-2-3 order described above, but this is generally how the process works. Rather than make the majority of applicants wait until the Committee has reviewed all of the files, we will start to send out decisions when the majority of decisions have been made. Our goal is to start sending decisions in the first or second week of March. We will inform you of when your decision is ready to view by sending you an email telling you to log in to the application site to view your decision letter. I will also post an entry to this blog when the first round of decisions have been sent. Admitted applicants will receive a paper copy of the same letter posted on the site a number of weeks later. Applicants who are not admitted will only see the letter on the application Web site; we do not send a paper copy of letters to those who are not admitted. I hope this provides a bit of insight into the process and I will continue to elaborate on the process in the coming weeks. Perception takes two shapes in the human brain; attention and cognition. With regard to attention, Mr Johnston can reduce the level of his pain by concentrating on a separate image other than his condition (Motoc Vasca, 2010). The cognitive aspect of pain, on the other hand, would be anchored on Mr Johnston s ability to relate his pain to another event. As an illustration, a setting of depression is likely to make Mr Johnston s pain more severe compared to when he can be in a pleasant environment (Mathsen Smith, 2007). The postoperative pain of Mr Johnstone has made him suffer from a number of adverse effects ranging from urinary, cardiovascular, and pulmonary dysfunction. The body of Mr Johnson s response to pain is the root of all these harmful effects. Ideally, the pain and stress associated with surgery trigger regular and distinct metabolic response that includes the release of cytokines and neuroendocrine hormones that culminates in these toxic effects (Almeida et al, 2011). Answer: Innovation is like a weapon to the entrepreneurs, which they use to bring new changes and represent those changes as opportunities for a prospering business in future (Crumpton, 2012). One of the commonest forms of innovation is bringing up a new product or launching a new service in the market (Onetti et al., 2012). Blossoms is a new concept with which the owners of the company want to hit the Australian market with Spanish flavour in different food items. It would generally introduce the Spanish tradition in the Australian market. The concept looks potentially appealing and so the organisational structure is; however, the real look out would be the extent up to which they deliver innovative ideas. A business can open up good and earn huge success in a very less span of time if it delivers on the predesigned organisational structure and uses innovative thoughts to bring changes, which are both competitive and profitable as well (Trimi Berbegal-Mirabent, 2012). The assignment has id entified innovation and entrepreneurship as a potential choice, which would bring competitive changes in the operation and would establish Blossoms as a successful, company (Kerr, 2013). The main purpose of this assignment is to analyse the impact of innovation and entrepreneurship on the business of the proposed company Blossoms. Business structure and strategy are interrelated to each other to some extent such as in the case of finalising a new business structure with the help of strategies. However, in broader terms those two might differ considerably. In some cases, strategy making might not produce any impact on the existing organisational structure (Bock et al., 2012). For example, incepting a new mean of marketing does not require a change in organisational structure if the organisation has adequate numbers of marketing personnel. However, both the strategy making and the organisational structure are entirely related to the term innovation. Innovation is the one most effective factor that encourages for a change, which can be either a major change or a minor one (Johnson, 2017). Entrepreneurship skills bring innovation, which has its high influence on the organisational structure and the strategies. The chosen organisation and the identified products to launch is a very good example of innovative though ts. Innovation encourages for doing something new; however, this is not entirely related to doing unique things all the time but it is rather doing things that are new to a specific company. For example, the newly proposed venture Blossoms would soon open up its restaurant in Australia. The Spanish flavours have been planned as offerings to the Australian customers. Themanagement has sensed the urgency of the venture, which is why they have planned an organisational structure that includes executive management, frontline associates, shift supervisors and chefs. This is a very good example of innovation, which themanagement has shows (Vaccaro et al., 2012). The organisational structure of the planned venture looks good, as it has smartly identified the required workforce for giving the proposed plan a good prospect. However, they should also hire an expert who would take care of the marketing stuffs. A proposed plan like this can create a good impact on the market prior to its openin g if it uses a suitable marketing communication mode. It is highly recommended for a new plan that it does a feasible marketing stuff to publicise the concept. This would help in generate a buzz for the concept, which can be highly advantageous if they come out with some good quality (De Mooij, 2013). The proposed organisational structure for Blossoms should also include a marketing expert who takes care of the required marketing stunt required for successfully launching the concept in the market. It is also necessary that the hired marketing personal select the most effective and the feasible marketing communication mode for the venture. The decision-making in this context would be influenced by the monetary benefits of the different communication modes and their appealing nature in the market. The use of innovation would in this context help to make the selection of an appropriate communication mode, which would be both feasible to the organisational budgetary capability and profitable as well for pronouncing their reputation in the market. The selection of an appropriate marketing communication mode relies heavily on the entrepreneurship quality of the marketing personal. Nevertheless, innovative thoughts would help the proposed venture develop entrepreneurship qualities in the m. To take the full advantage of innovative thoughts, it is necessary that entrepreneurs never restrict their thoughts for some controllable issues such as financial capability (Dawen, 2013). Numerous contextual factors are associated with the entrepreneurship those all have significant impacts on the organisational performance. Some of the contextual factors are but not limited to such as the firms industry nature, government policies, technology acquisition and surrounding culture. Government policies and surrounding cultures are external factors. All factors have their impact on the organisational structure and the strategy making. Government policies influence the business structure and the organisational strategies. Government policies such as the restrictions on the use of some kind of food ingredients that support obesity have its significant impact on the food making business. Companies under such obligation need to be health oriented while preparing their food. However, even in such circumstances entrepreneurs remain attached with the organisational vision by showing their utmost innovativeness in selecting the most suitable strategy (Bullough, Renko Myatt, 2014 ). Entrepreneurship would certainly help the proposed company in the food industry if any such obligation were imposed on its business. Surrounding culture does also influence the strategy making. The different food companies for example target customers based on their choice of foods. It is never feasible to offer Spanish foods to an Asian customer. They would rather prefer their regional food items. Food companies in particular use innovative thoughts by selecting the food menu that suits most the target customer. The proposed venture Blossoms would definitely need to hit the right taste for the Australian customers. Entrepreneurship here again would influence the strategy making for the proposed company. Technology acquisition is highly valuable in the contemporary business. It means adopting the technologies, which are high in potential. Such technologies create differences in the market competition. The rising demand for the use of e-commerce is one of such examples. Entrepreneurship would help the proposed venture to innovate with various technologies available in the market. This would also encourage them to u se the most feasible technology with the planned budget of the company (Morris et al., 2013). The mentioned contextual factors of entrepreneurship such as government policies, surrounding culture and technology acquisition influence the decision making as well. When some part of a business is taken under strict scrutiny of the local government, it is then necessary for the affected companies to take appropriate decisions to adhere the government policies. Using healthy vegetables in different fast foods such as burger is one of the examples of entrepreneurship. Such quality would also assist the performance of the proposed company as because it might face some challenge in terms of menu offered to the customers. Some customers might like the concept; however, many customers might not. In such cases, entrepreneurs would use their innovative skills to bring some changes that could match up with the masses. Technology acquisition is another very important factor that affects the decision-making. For example, few companies use the manual form of entering the necessary data such a s the sales record; however, some use CRM to enhance their sales and customer service capabilities. Some companies even go beyond the limit and use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to get an utmost solution on sales performance and customer service (Schniederjans, Cao Ching Gu, 2012). However, the selection of software that is available in market depends entirely on the leadership quality of the firm. A small firm can never afford to have ERP because of its cost of purchasing. Entrepreneurs in such case show their utmost intelligence in identifying the most feasible technology, which is competitive as well as feasible with the organisational financial capabilities (Wingwon, 2012). Entrepreneurship is a position that produce creative ideas in leaders using which they redefine the market competition. Such leadership encourage for different innovative ideas, which develops a fighting capability with the surrounding situation. The chosen organisation in the context needs such entrepreneurship skills to foster their success chances with the proposed service concept. Entrepreneurship would encourage its leaders build up in them a fighting capability that does not fall short under any constraint. The proposed business concept of a new venture Blossoms would rely heavily on the strategic planning of its leaders. They are doing an experiment by introducing the Spanish foods to the Australian customers. It is then necessary to continuously monitor the customers responses and act accordingly. The entrepreneurs of the company would have responsibilities on their shoulder to understand the customers perspectives and then fulfilling the desires by using their utmost leaders hip qualities. They need to be innovative with different ideas. They need to be technologically oriented as well, which would include but not limited to such as showing viability to the most feasible technology. What about people who you wish you could be like? Or, are you someone who likes a real man who treats a girl right? Debbie Maccomber puts all of these elements in Navy Brat. Erin MacMamera is a hard working woman whos strong, and Brandon Davis is a charming man, who every girl would dream to have. I highly recommend that this book be read. First of all, Brandon Davis is a good guy, and every girl would dream to be with him. Brandon is a very gorgeous looking person. Most good looking guys dont even give girls a chance, unless they are perfect. This is because most men are jerks and only care about looks. They dont try to see inner beauty. Brand is different. Even though hes drop dead gorgeous, he falls for Erin. Erin isnt the prettiest woman. She is described as a sophisticated and distinctively Irish. The author says shes pretty but shes not even close to being strikingly beautiful. Brand sees past this and treats her like a woman should be treated. To him, she was the most beautiful woman in the world. What girls wouldnt want a guy like that? When Brand was away at sea because he was in the navy, he wrote Erin a letter every single day. No matter what, he made it a point to write to her. If thats not sweet, then I dont know what is. He was very persistent with Erin because he wanted to be with her. But if she wante d him to stop pushing her he did. He never forced her to do anything she didnt want to, and he backed off when she needed space. Quite clearly, Brand is an extremely wonderful man. Not all men are like that. A lot get bored, give up easily, or treat girls poorly. Brand is totally different. Hes definitely a dream guy that any girl would want! Second, the character of Erin MacNamera is an extremely admirable one. Shes a very strong, well educated, and caring individual. She picked her life up on her own and moved... An organized endeavor which is intended to analyze the systems, practices, procedures, products and specifications for satisfaction of necessary functions at lowest possible cost of ownership is to be designed. This integrated effort is to be taken keeping the expected performance, quality, reliability as well as maintainability is mind. Cost reduction is not only essential, but also possible. Organizations increasingly are focusing on having models that can enable them to achieve this target. There are also software vendors who have understood the importance of this and have designed solutions catering to this need of companies looking at cost reduction by several techniques like Activity based costing and application of value analysis and value engineering. A case in point is the product of IBM, which is industry leading solution called Telecom Pass 4.0 for telecommunication industry featuring cost management and cost reduction techniques Value analysis is a tool for improvement of cost as well as processes making an use of information about the processes of business and based on examination of different attributes of the processes for identifying areas of improvement. This is an organized method which focuses on the function of each process, service or material that adds value to the organization and there by attempts to define the correct cost, quality and parameters of acceptance in the determination of value so as to be able to redesign or reengineer a particular function. It is a structured and critical analytical process which determines the value of each rupee spent by finding out which are the most essential functions at the most economic cost thereby bringing out the value for money. Value analysis (alternately called as value engineering) happens to be a cost validation exercise that identifies required processes without affecting the quality of output resulting in lower costs. The application of value engineering comprises of the following activities: Identifying the existing activities and processes Finding out activities that can be eliminated Analyzing the cost. Performing a cost benefits analysis. Making a forecast of expenditure flows. Evaluation of alternative designs. Redesigning the process Maintaining quality Undertaking feasibility Studies. Giving an advise on cost planning Giving an advice on cost limits and preparing budgets. Advising on cash flow forecasting. Activity Based Costing (ABC) It is a methodology applied for calculation of cost of the business by having a focus on the actual cost of the activities carried out for having an estimate of the actual cost of service or the product. It takes into consideration the conversion of cash based accounting system into accrual systems, defining the cost centers as well as cost allocation. Cost centers include products and services. Apart from this it also includes particular and detailed tasks in under each broad activity. Defining of cost centers varies with different kinds of businesses, but what is essential is that each and every activity and resources is identified. However, investors expect a lot more from the financial institutions including banks of the United States of America. This report is aimed to review two companies as criteria, in the United Kingdom corporate governance, on board structure and if the United Kingdom combined code is effective on the financial performance. The dissertation clearly identifies the weaknesses, strengths, current performances and failures of the banking industry of the UK. The collapse of the banking sector of the United Kingdom was followed by the bankruptcy of the Lehman Brothers, the largest banking institutions in the United States of America. Since then, the UK went in to deep recession, which was considered to be the worst by many economists. In the corporate governance sector, the United Kingdom is considered as the world leader (Shah, 2009). The most important factor behind the collapse of banks in the United Kingdom is the ineffective and inefficient progress of the board members. This investigation is aimed to review and analyze the major issues and factors that took part in the failure of the banking and financial institutions, more specifically, RBS and HSBC. These banks are compared and examined deeply, aiming to discover out if the entities act in accordance with the combined code generated good financial results. The rigidity of the financial sector provides no room for abidance (Berndtson, 2009).à The business and management corporate entities, at earlier, were governed in harmony only with the Bianca Moffitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06215625508767052886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7028900334690262121.post-43241419846986912582020-01-26T15:56:00.001-08:002020-01-26T15:56:05.767-08:00Implement an Information System for SMARTSImplement an Information System for SMARTS 1 Introduction Purpose of Document The purpose of this document is the outline the specification to implement an Information System for SMARTS. This document details the process of moving from the current system to the proposed system that was developed in addition to migrating data, also to plan for the implementation of a Help Desk to be available to staff through a Service Level Agreement. Scope In Scope Out of Scope Plan Installation of FROSTIE and SCIMITAR Integration with Surbiton Workshop Installation of FROSTIE and SCIMITAR Recruiting Staff for Help Desk Data Migration Analysis, Design and Coding of the System Staff Training Installing and Configuring the Networks End User support for FROSTIE and SCIMITAR Installation of Network Servers End User support all other Information Systems Software installation and configuration of Web Browser (Internet Explorer) 2 Installation 2.1 Deployment Plan We are planning to do a combination of Phased Geographic Deployment plan and Phased Modules plan for SCIMITAR and FROSTIE systems, this plan enables the deployment of the new system into different phases for each workshop, the 1st workshop being the Bow in east London, then Stanmore in north London then lastly will be Streatham in south London and Modules can be installed on an incremental approach. SCIMITAR and FROSTIE will be installed on the Application Server and each workstation will be configured to access them through a Web Browser, each machine in the network will require the exact same browser to minimize the risk of user confusion. The Head office will be the first point of installation and then the other two workshops will come in after. 2.2 Data Migration Data must be migrated from various forms, most of which is from Databases from the current digital systems and some data is from current paper based system databases. All stocked items must be checked and verified by the staff before the data is Migrated to ensure correct entry of data into the new system. The data that is part of the digital databases can be converted to the new system through a software program that is specialized in ETL (Extraction, Transformation, Loading) to the new system. Staff will also be selected to have authority over selected data to be migrated to the new system. Data that will be processed is as follows; Data Date SCIMITAR FROSTIE Conversion Responsibility Clients âËÅ¡ ETL Admin Fabric âËÅ¡ âËÅ¡ ETL Admin Fees âËÅ¡ ETL Admin Jobs âËÅ¡ Manual Admin Patterns âËÅ¡ âËÅ¡ Manual Admin POs âËÅ¡ Manual Admin Stock Cat. âËÅ¡ âËÅ¡ ETL Admin Stock Qty âËÅ¡ Manual / ETL Admin Suppliers âËÅ¡ Manual Admin Tailors âËÅ¡ âËÅ¡ ETL Tailors The Data Migration will commence three weeks to two weeks ahead of the new systems going live. 2.3 Training Who What to Train On How to Train Where to Train Senior Users DFDs Complete Overview Classroom Training Head office NISS Staff Complete Overview On the Job Training Head office Managers Complete Overview Train the Trainers Head office Executives DFDs One on One Training Head office Training is planned to take place one week before the new system goes live. 2.4 Business Change Issues Issues will arise if the business continuity is compromised. SMARTS business hours cannot be stopped to perform installation, if this happens, this can result in loss of Business, loss of Customers, Loss of goodwill and Loss of Cash Flow. Databases may become corrupt and data may become unreadable, causing the business significant losses. Issues can arise internally by employees fearing that their patterns of work may change and may think that their jobs may be at risk, employees may think that they may have additional responsibilities and roles to fulfill and may not get salary compensation for the additional tasks. Employees can get intimidated by the new system that will be used and hence cause them to have a higher risk of making mistakes and entering errors. Staff may deny the need to get training because of their normal work schedules. The new system is not perfect and a flaw in the system that was not initially detected can have a fatal effect after installation. 3 Support 3.1 Support Needs All users of the SCIMITAR and FROSTIE systems at SMARTS will have access to the Support Services, the service will be scheduled to have full working time at the same time of SMARTS business hours which is between the hours of 9:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday, 9:30 to 17:30 on Saturdays, closed on Sundays and UK Bank Holidays. 3.2 The NISS Help Desk The model that will be used for the NISS help desk will be the Touch and Hold Support Model, and employ the Three Level Structure where the First Level is the Front-Line staff, this is where your calls will be initially answered and resolved, the Second Level is the Back-End Staff, this is when the issue requires special expertise within the issue. Lately, the Third Level is Draper Consulting Limited (DCL), there the user can get expert help on the issue and can give feedback on any bugs in the system of give suggestions about improving the system further. The NISS help desk office department will be held in the Head office, so the normal working hours of the Head Office will dictate the hours of the NISS staff. Ninety-four percent of people living on the streets are single adults, four percent are part of families and two percent are unaccompanied runaway minors. The homeless shelters begin filling, therefore beginning to cause a slight problem, services in the shelters will worsen. The homeless are being slowing exiled from society, creating division in the social class structure between the low-income class and the homeless class (Homelessness in America). The homeless struggle in surviving economical and physically, and with the declining of useful services in the shelters due to the overcrowding, the homeless community is incapable of reestablishing in society. The homeless and the shelters require an increasing amount of useful services in order to assist homeless citizensââ¬â¢ into reentering society once again. The controversial idea for improving services amongst homeless shelters continues in turmoil. Society, excluding the homeless, views the homeless as wasteful citizens of the United States, again exiling them from society (A Nation in Denial: The Truth about Homelessness). They see them as good for nothing, drug addicted people who are too lazy to actually apply themselves and work. Many Americans feel this way towards homeless communities; however, many homeless are out on the streets due to loss of job, being non-financially stable, and due to mental and/or physical disabilities. Homeless people are view upon and discriminated against in such a negative fashion, abating homeless peoples chances of receiving the proper support in order to responsibly take action and reenter society as a working citizen (Homelessness: Whose problem is it?). Americansââ¬â¢ judging a single homeless person based on the Americaââ¬â¢s judgmentsââ¬â¢ of the homeless community is ignorant. I personally view each homeless people as an individual who needs assistance, needs the extra encouragement to be able to support them self, one who needs a higher quality of services provided for them in the shelters. If we, as a nation, help out the homeless shelters by giving them better services, each homeless citizen will be able to rejoin society and feel a sense of pride for themselves once and for all, if not, they will all die. Bettering the services in the shelters helps tremendously for the homeless community. Peoplesââ¬â¢ largess allows encouragement to flow through the homeless citizens, thus setting up a planà for them to rejoin society once and for all. Helping the homeless shelters helps the homeless, not only for themselves, but helps the nation. Assisting homeless people back into society allows for a larger working class, opens many different job opportunities and strengths the economy by making more money. Although hundreds of the millions of homeless people who want support in order to restart their lives, a great amount of the homeless do not want help, they do not want to rejoin society again, ââ¬Å"I enjoy being homeless!â⬠(Voices from the Street). The homeless refuse to enter society, having to work in order to better themselves. Only about fifteen percent of the homeless in the shelters feel this way because of their drug addiction. In fact, few homeless people are out on the streets due to drug addiction. They plan to gain sympathy from society by pleading for loose change, in which that loose change that they say is for a meal, is in fact used to support their drug addiction. Despite the percentage of homeless people who do not want help; this is why the shelters want greater services. The homeless who say they do not want help are the ones who need it the most and without the proper services, homelessness will continue to grow in astonishing numbers (Homeless Rates in U .S. Held Level Amid Recession). Homeless shelters should be able to have an upgrade of their services to help the homeless; otherwise, the homeless struggling in the streets will never be able to call a place their home. In America, homelessness is an increasing problem in our great nation. Each and every day, large amounts of citizensââ¬â¢ fall under the homeless class, over filling each homeless shelter the country has to offer. Not owning the proper services to help each homeless person in the shelters to be able to reenter society to better them continues the growing problem of homelessness. Why not offer the homeless better services? I believe that every shelter, in order to end homelessness, should obtain an upgrade of their services, but without the help of the nation, the homelessness issue will continue and the homeless will never have a chance to reestablish themselves in society again. Electronic communication is used for the transfer of data, images, signals, signs, etc. through wire, electromagnetic, radio, photoelectronic or photo-optical system. With its growing popularity people have started communicating via email. Electronic communication is not only a new tool but also a new way of communication. This has led to a change in the culture. Below mentioned are advantages and disadvantages of electronic communication. Pros of Electronic Communication The benefits of electronic communication is that people across the world can share televised pictures, conversations, graphics, circuits and interactive softwares. The interaction between people residing in different geographical locations have increased and have become promiscuous. The conversations are more visual and textual. This is helpful mainly for hearing impaired people. With electronic communication, the recipient receives the message within a few seconds of the sender sending it. The recipient can read the message anytime, anywhere according to his convenience. The speed of conversation has increased and this has resulted in faster processing of important matters related to business, finance, trade, etc. For example, you can instantly access the information present in your computer. As there are no restrictions about time and place, people can sit at home and do their office work if the required resources are available. This work arrangement is termed as telecommuting. The communicated messages can be stored permanently or temporarily on disks or tapes for years or can even be printed and stored in files. The process of learning has become simple and efficient as the information can be archived and retrieved according to the requirement. Since the communication does not take place via hard copies, money spent for paper, printing and postal deliveries is saved. After the mail is delivered to the receiver, it is placed safely in the hard disk of the receiver's computer. After the receiver retrieves the mail, it is his responsibility to keep it safely. Cons of Electronic Communication The main issue with electronic communication is security. Your computer can be hacked and affected with computer virus. This can have an adverse effect on the computer system and the network. The volume of transmitted data is large and the transmission is fast. Hence, it becomes difficult for employers and managers to absorb, process and understand it and provide proper feedbacks to their employees. The speed with which the messages are transmitted often changes the structure of the messages, which at times can be misinterpreted. Electronic data can be duplicated identically without any proof of duplication. These messages can also be modified. At times, people can intentionally send malicious programs like viruses, worms and Trojans through emails, which is difficult to detect. Another disadvantage of electronic communication is email privacy issues. An email is sent in the form of data packets via computer network. These data packets have to pass through a number of routers (a computer device used for forwarding packets in the computer network) and computers before it reaches its destination. So, there are chances of an individual tampering the emails before it reaches its recipient. While the data packets are transferred from one computer system to another, they can be lost when one router transfers it to another. If the router is bombarded with more number of data packets than its carrying capacity, the receiver can experience a delay in receiving it. The ââ¬Ëfrom message header' of a message can be modified, which hampers the authenticity. Almost all technologies in this world have their pros and cons. Similarly, there exist advantages and disadvantages of electronic communication as well. In-spite of its disadvantages, most of us depend on electronic communication for our everyday work as it has become an integral part of our lives. When William Shakespeare and Aeschylus create purpose, they create it in a direct manner. Executing it with carefully chosen language, Shakespeare and Aeschylus implement multiple layers to construct meaning and multiple interpretations. Without alienating the audience and regardless of itââ¬â¢s controversial themeââ¬â¢s, both textââ¬â¢s were at a time developed when devoted leaders condemned the idea of Eve and praised the Virgin Mary, Neoclassical scholars welcome the idea of feminism, reversed gender roles, and that women could be the dominant domain. The everyday couple would settle and incorporate pieces of the popular ideas of societies hierarchy of the male position, masculinity over ruled femininity, which was embedded in a tradition constructed society. This essay seeks to create an understanding of the symbolic characters of Katherina in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s ââ¬ËThe Taming of The Shrewââ¬â¢ and of Clytemnestra in Aeschylusââ¬â¢s ââ¬ËAgamemnonââ¬â¢. By exploring both texts in conjunction, it comes to attention that both female characters play masculine roles to be able to achieve their dominance stance. Both women not only revel the real life female, but also depicts to the audience the double bind due to the patriarchal world they live in. This essay will show how both characters use their actions as well as their words as an opportunity, yet becoming problematic due to the idea of ââ¬Ëa mans worldââ¬â¢. In the context of the play, rather then ignoring the problematic elements, Anne Barton (1997) Bianca Moffitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06215625508767052886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7028900334690262121.post-59399819669134128522019-12-25T01:35:00.001-08:002019-12-25T01:35:03.633-08:00The Issue Of Teen Pregnancy - 1082 Words I suppose no one ever really expects things to happen to them until they actually happen. At least, thatââ¬â¢s how I viewed things until I got pregnant with my first and only child at fifteen years old. Itââ¬â¢s almost exactly the way they portray it in Hollywood movies and television shows and books. Although, unlike those books and shows, I never lost any friends from this experience. I will say that people are much more understanding nowadays. Still, no one is ever really ready to be a mom, especially at fifteen. Statistics say that seven out of ten girls that get pregnant while still in high school will drop out. Seventy percent of girls will drop out of school. In 2013, 273,105 babies were born to girls aged 15-19. Thatââ¬â¢s a terrifying number, but teen pregnancy rates are lower than ever before. Being part of the thirty percent that made it through high school, I will say one thing: the reason I made it through all four years (thatââ¬â¢s right, there was never a moment of my high school career in which I was never a parent) was because I never saw myself doing anything else. The opportunity for school was always there. I was and still am one of the lucky few that have the opportunity for education, unlike many other countries where girls are condemned from schooling. I always knew I was going to college, and sure enough, I am the first person in my immediate family to attend a four-year university. These demands are usually guidelines and expectations of behavior made by family and society. Meeting these demands may call for more self control or more skill development. For sorne individuals, the demands lead to tension, which is what Erikson refers to as a crisis. These eight stages of development include: Autonomy from parents, physical maturity, sex-role identity, integrated morality, career choice, formal operations, emotional development, and membership in peer groups. A person may have been receiving subtle messages that they are unwanted and expendable. These feelings of being unwanted can escalate during adolescence, and the messages received can foster suicide attempts. Answer: Introduction The purpose of this task is to provide a brief overview about thechange management activities prevailing in the organization. Further it talks about the factors driving thechange management activities in an organization. Change is the only constant factor in the organization which occurs to help organizations succeed in their business process. Some of the change management models are also described in the task which tells about the use and implication of change in an organization. Further it is not necessary that all organizations will apply and adopt thechange management techniques easily, sometimes the management also resist to such changes resulting which, the organization lacks competence in the competitive market (Bogers, West 2012). So the task explains the resistance to changes process in the organization and recommends that how organizations shall overcome such resistance. Further details about thechange management process in an organization are discussed below: Change management According to Burnes (2012), change management refers to the process of changing the organizations current working business model into a model which use innovation and achieve the future objective efficiently. The author also believes that initiation of this process in the workplace management is a difficult task like the managers needs to initially build up a blue print and a plan which they shall follow in order too successfully initiate change management activities in an organization. Thus, it shall be noted that Burnes and Oswick (2011), says that the process of change management shall restructure the organizations business process and culture so as to create an effect of the external environment. But some of the authors see change management as an easy task which is the requirement of the process of the organization. They believe that without the process of change management organization perform work but inefficiency is not developed so with the help of change management they perceive what they want. Thus, this is a simple way to drive the positive results in the way of the organization. Factor driving change Change management is only possible in the organization if there comes some unseen liability or new requirement in their regular work to which they are unable to adjust. Resulting to which, the company needs to initiate and implement the change management in the organization. So the internal and external factors which drive change management in an organization are discussed below: Competition: Competition is one of the most important factors due to which all organizations face the process of change in their organization. So, it shall be said that competition is the factor which drives change in the organization. The entrance of new competitors in the market forces the existing players in the target market to change their marketing strategy. As competition is a risk for all the organization as it can eliminate any organization and reduce its growth in the market. So, in order to be in the competition and maintain their competence in the market it becomes necessary for the companies to initiate change management practices in their process (Carter, et. al., 2013). Technology: another factor which drives change management practices in an organization is the technology implementation in the industry. Innovation in the technology forces the organizations to change their out dated technology and adopt the new and efficient technology which can help them to gain success in the target market. Further it shall be noted that technology is one way for the organizations which can help them to remain in the competition and differentiation them in the target market. So, in case if the competitor comes up with more innovative technology, then the other company fears of replacement. So, resulting to which technology has become one of the factor which drives change management in an organization (Pugh 2016). Governmental Regulation: government regulation is the factor which changes the features and working process of all organizations present in the industry. Government regulations are present in external environment which affects the working of all the organizations present in the industry. Depending on the data acquired by the government, they can any time change the legislations and regulation; in accordance to which it is compulsory for the organizations to change their managerial activities as well. Innovation: All organization wants to achieve competence in the target market and create an identified position in the market. So, for that purpose they implement creativity and innovation in their business process which is regarded as change management in the organization. Change occur which business process changes its working to get better outcomes. So, organizations use innovation as change management to produce better results in the external environment (George 2016). Change Management Models There are many theories and models used in an organization which aims to initiate change management in their business process. Further some of the change management theories are discussed below: Thurley Model of Change: The model was defined by K. Thurley under which the researchers gave five major tactics to the companies worldwide to initiate change in the organizational process. Further the strategic changes are discussed below: Directive: This strategy of Thurley model denotes the obligations which the company receives to make changes in the crucial times when all the programs defined by the organization fail. Bargained: Further the bargained approach under this model shows the view that the power of the management is shared between the employee and employer in the organization. Also some negotiations are always required in such changes as well. Hearts and minds: This process refers to the change in the attitude and thinking of manpower present in the company. This type of approach looks for the positive reply from the employees of the company. Thus, with this process the organization aims to achieve the defined target as well. Analytical: Under this approach, the organization needs to plan and implement the changes in the organization first and then move on the subsequent stages. Firstly the organization needs to create a blue print of the defined plan and then analyze the possible results of the approach (Kim 2015). Action-based: This phase of the strategy looks for the way through which the leaders implement the actions of change management in the organization through analytical and theoretical model of change management. Lewins Force Field Analysis: This model was developed by Kurt Lewin in the year 1947. This model is called three step model and the three phase of the Lewins model is discussed below: Unfreezing: it refers to the process leaving the old and traditional laws which bars the growth of the company. This aspect aims to the wider the thinking skills of the employees of the organization and makes them capable to adapt new and innovative changes. The leaders of the organization shall help the employees to come forward and accept the innovation present in the organization. Thus, basically main aim of this task is to change the mindset of the employees of the organization against different aspects present. Change: transition or change refers to the step under which new ideas and creative thinking skills are learned and used by the people present in the management. This phase includes the actual changing process initiated in the organization. The employees aim to perform the functions according to the changes initiated in the organization and act with full solidarity in all case. Refreezing: refreezing refers to the process under which the employees shall understanding and use it in action, the activities which are taught by the higher authority of the managerial team (Shirey 2013). Furthermore talking about suitability of different models in the organization, it shall be noted that the organization uses such approaches depending upon change which they want to implement in workplace. In more precise manner it shall be noted that the Thurley model is majorly used in organizations when they need to change the whole structure of the organization. To make all elements present in the management acceptable towards the changes, this approach is used. Whereas, in case of the Lewins model, it is majorly used when the organization wants to make changes in one specified department of the company so they unfreeze that department and initiate changes and freeze it. Thus, depending upon the change and suitability the organization makes use of such models. Resistance to change There is a well-known saying which states that occurrence of change in an organization is not the problem but resistance to change is a major problem caused inn organizations. Resistance to change refers to the rigidity of the organizations to adopt and implement activities which includes change in the organization. If the workforce present in the organization in not flexible and welcoming towards innovation then it becomes difficult for them develop change in the organization (Shimoni 2017). Further it shall be noted that resistance to change is an initiative taken by the individuals or groups when they feel that a change is going to occur in their workplace environment. There are many factors due to which the employees resist to change happening in the organization, maybe they fear of losing their power in the organization or they do not have efficient knowledge to adopt the innovative changes happening in the organization. Also there is all type of people present in the organization, some might look at this change as a positive aspect and other might not. But it depends upon the capabilities of the managers to satisfy all the employees in the organization and ask them to implement the change management practices in the organization (Ouma 2017). Importance of Change Management Considering to the above statement the fact is understood that change management is an important aspect which shall be initiated by the employees in the organization. Further the important of such change in an organization is discussed below: Reduction in cost: With the implementation of innovative and creative ideas in the organization, the management tends to reduce the cost implied in the organization. With the use of such practice the organization eliminates the areas which incur heavy cost resulting to which, the company receives more profits and less expenses. Innovation: innovation is the biggest aspect which an organization attains with the initiation of change management process in the organization. This tool is utilized in the organization with the help of change management process only. Also change management process eliminates the traditional methods and helps the organization to use new and innovative trends present in the market (Hayes 2014). Decrease in resistance: resistance is an aspect related to change management which reduces the growth of the organization in the global context. As this process stops the organization from implementing changes in their internal management, due to which the company lacks the pace in the international market and falls behind in the competition. Resulting to which, with the help of the process of change management in the organization the employees become flexible to adopt such changes and become habitual to that. Also it shall be noted that with the help of this process the employees increases their efficiency to work as well (Langley, et.al., 2013). Conclusion and Recommendation Thus, in the limelight of above mentioned events the facts that shall be noted are that all the organizations in todays world need to implement the change management process in the organization. This process helps the organizations to become competent in the target market so that they can effectively compete in the market. The above mentioned task discusses about the change management theories and its implication in the internal process of the organization. Further the task justifies to the requirements of the task and explains the importance of change management implications in an organization. Further there are few recommendations which shall be used by organizations to improve the efficiencies in a better way which is discussed below: Plan: In order to initiate a plan initially the organization shall implement a plan on the basis of which they shall aim to implement changes in the organization. A Valid vision and mission shall be implemented by the managers in the organization. Communication: Further communication of the planned task shall be implemented in the organization. Communication will help the employees to talk about their issues and resolve them effectively in the organization. Further communication will also help the mangers to initiate the change management plan effectively. Also the managers shall communicate the plan in simple words so that it is understandable by all. Further after which the superiors shall monitor the activities and then communicate the scope of changes as well. Motivate: Motivation is one of the most important aspect with the help of which employees can focus and accomplish their change management objective in the organization. If the manger would motivate the employees then they would become more efficient to initiate changes in the organization. References Bogers, M. West, J., 2012. Faith is accepting what you are taught or told without trying to prove or disprove it, rather than discovering it through experience. Atheism suggests that those who believe in God have blind faith-and they do. It has not been proven that God exists; similarly, it has not been proven that humans are kind, honest, and good by nature. Young Goodman Brown is a character in "Young Goodman Brown," who leaves his known world in Salem village and travels an unknown road in a dark forest in the middle of the night, a common motif in literature better known as the Hero's journey, and is faced withobstacles. He must decide if he will carry his journey out till the end, or turn back and not learn the truth about himself and other humans. The story "Young Goodman Brown," by Nathaniel Hawthorne traces Young Goodman Brown's experiences, physical and psychological, paralleling the Hero's Journey and showing how he discovers that humans are truly evil by nature; therefore, altering his views of other humans and life itself. In the beginning of the story, Goodman Brown is faced with a decision to stay home with his wife another night or to take off on his journey. This parallels his psychological decision to leave behind all that he knew to be true up until that point and discover the truth no matter how harsh it may be. The call, from the Hero's journey, is when Goodman Brown decides to go out alone to discover himself. Faith, his wife, is urging him to stay with her instead of leaving that night. She almost convinces Brown to stay, but his desire to discover himself overpowers his desire to stay with Faith. The struggle going on inside of Goodman Brown's head is really between remaining innocent and having blind faith in the nature of man or embarking on the journey to discover his true self, no matter what that may be. The threshold, or jumping off point for Brown, is when he has made his final decision to ignore his wife's pleas and take his journey. It is ironic when Faith finally lets him go and says, "Then God bless you! ?and may you find all well when you come back" (pg. 87). He is only gone one night and nothing substantial changes in Salem village while he is gone, but since he is so dramatically changed emotionally during his excursion, he remains sad and distrustful for the rest of his life, due to knowing the truth about human nature. Young Goodman Brown must leave behind his known world, Salem village, and enter an unknown world, the forest, to face challenges he must be capable of overcoming. Allegorically, he embarks on a psychological and spiritual odyssey. Entering an unknown territory is scary and puts a person at a much higher physical and emotional risk. "There may be a devlish Indian behind every tree" shows how insecure Young Goodman Brown is in the forest because he is exposing himself to danger, which in this case, is evil itself (pg. 88). He must stay strong and overcome his weaknesses to get past his biggest fears and continue his Hero's journey. Goodman Brown is tempted to turn around and go home, but he sticks it out, and continues onward. Goodman Brown remarks, "What if the devil himself should be at my very elbow!" just before noticing a man, similar in appearance to himself, sitting under a tree (pg. 88). This man speaks as if he was expecting Brown although Brown is a little shocked to see him. He represents the previously unrecognized evil nature of Young Goodman Brown, possibly the devil himself. Although Goodman Brown is reluctant to continue, this man convinces him to go just a little further. Goodman Brown tries to explain why he wishes to turn back by saying, "My father never went into the woods on such an errand, nor his father before him. We have been a race of honest men and good Christians?" (pg. 89). The man replies that he has walked this road with all Brown's ancestors before, and therefore, convinces Brown to continue the path. Also, the man must explain that even people who appear dignified and honorable such as the minister, have taken the path. Young Goodman Brown comes across Goody Cloyce who taught him his catechism in youth, as well as the minister and Deacon Gookin who were his spiritual and moral advisors. Seeing them on the same path was Bianca Moffitthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06215625508767052886noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7028900334690262121.post-84515633493278935662019-11-26T13:08:00.001-08:002019-11-26T13:08:03.260-08:00Robert Clive - Biography of 18th Century British GeneralRobert Clive - Biography of 18th Century British General Born September 29, 1725 near Market Drayton, England, Robert Clive was one of thirteen children. Sent to live with his aunt in Manchester, he was spoiled by her and returned home at age nine an ill-disciplined troublemaker. Developing a reputation for fighting, Clive compelled several area merchants to pay him protection money or risk having their businesses damaged by his gang. Expelled from three schools, his father secured him a post as a writer with the East India Company in 1743. Receiving orders for Madras, Clive boarded the East Indiaman Winchester that March. Early Years in India Delayed in Brazil en route, Clive arrived at Fort St. George, Madras in June 1744. Finding his duties boring, his time at Madras became more livelier in 1746 when the French attacked the city. Following the citys fall, Clive escaped south to Fort St. David and joined the East India Companys army. Commissioned as an ensign, he served until peace was declared in 1748. Displeased at the prospect of returning to his regular duties, Clive began to suffer from depression which was to plague him throughout his life. During this period, he befriended Major Stringer Lawrence who became a professional mentor. Though Britain and France were technically at peace, a low-level conflict persisted in India as both sides sought an advantage in the region. In 1749, Lawrence appointed Clive commissary at Fort St. George with the rank of captain. To advance their agendas, the European powers often intervened in local power struggle with the goal of installing friendly leaders. One such intervention occurred over the post of Nawab of the Carnatic which saw the French back Chanda Sahib and the British support Muhammed Ali Khan Wallajah. In the summer of 1751, Chanda Sahib left his base at Arcot to strike at Trichinopoly. Fame at Arcot Seeing an opportunity, Clive requested permission to attack Arcot with the goal of pulling some of the enemys forces away from Trichinopoly. Moving with around 500 men, Clive successfully stormed the fort at Arcot. His actions led to Chanda Sahib sending a mixed Indian-French force to Arcot under his son, Raza Sahib. Placed under siege, Clive held out for fifty days until relieved by British forces. Joining in the subsequent campaign, he aided in placing the British candidate on the throne. Commended for his actions by Prime Minister William Pitt the Elder, Clive returned to Britain in 1753. Return to India Arriving home having amassed a fortune of à £40,000, Clive won a seat in Parliament and aided his family in paying off its debts. Losing his seat to political intrigues and needing additional funds, he elected to return to India. Appointed governor of Fort St. David with the rank of lieutenant colonel in the British Army, he embarked in March 1755. Reaching Bombay, Clive aided in an attack against the pirate stronghold at Gheria before reaching Madras in May 1756. As he assumed his new post, the Nawab of Bengal, Siraj Ud Daulah, attacked and captured Calcutta. Victory at Plassey This was partially provoked by British and French forces reinforcing their bases after the beginning of the Seven Years War. After taking Fort William in Calcutta, a large number of British prisoners were herded into a tiny prison. Dubbed the Black Hole of Calcutta, many died from heat exhaustion and being smothered. Eager to recover Calcutta, the East India Company directed Clive and Vice Admiral Charles Watson to sail north. Arriving with four ships of the line, the British retook Calcutta and Clive concluded a treaty with the nawab on February 4, 1757. Frightened by the growing power of the British in Bengal, Siraj Ud Daulah began contacting the French. As the nawab sought aid, Clive dispatched forces against the French colony at Chandernagore which fell on March 23. Turning his attention back to Siraj Ud Daulah, he began intriguing to overthrow him as the East India Companys forces, a mix of European troops and sepoys, were badly outnumbered. Reaching out to Mir Jafar, Siraj Ud Daulahs military commander, Clive convinced him to switch sides during the next battle in exchange for the nawabship. As hostilities resumed, Clives small army met Siraj Ud Daulahs large army near Palashi on June 23. In the resulting Battle of Plassey, British forces emerged victorious after Mir Jafar switched sides. Placing Jafar on the throne, Clive directed further operations in Bengal while ordering additional forces against the French near Madras. In addition to overseeing military campaigns, Clive worked to refortify Calcutta and endeavored to train the East India Companys sepoy army in European tactics and drill. With things seemingly in order, Clive returned to Britain in 1760. Final Term in India Reaching London, Clive was elevated to the peerage as Baron Clive of Plassey in recognition of his exploits. Returning to Parliament, he worked to reform the East India Companys structure and frequently clashed with its Court of Directors. Learning of a rebellion by Mir Jafar as well as widespread corruption on the part of company officials, Clive was asked to return to Bengal as governor and commander in chief. Arriving at Calcutta in May 1765, he stabilized the political situation and quelled a mutiny in the companys army. That August, Clive succeeded in getting Mughal emperor Shah Alam II to recognize British holdings in India as well as obtained an imperial firman which gave the East India Company the right to collect revenue in Bengal. This document effectively made it the ruler of the region and served as the basis for British power in India. Remaining in India two more years, Clive worked to restructure the administration of Bengal and attempted to halt corruption within the company. Later Life Returning to Britain in 1767, he purchased a large estate dubbed Claremont. Though the architect of the growing British empire in India, Clive came under fire in 1772 by critics who questioned how he obtained his wealth. Ably defending himself, he was able to escape censure by Parliament. In 1774, with colonial tensions rising, Clive was offered the post of Commander-in-Chief, North America. Declining, the post went to Lieutenant General Thomas Gage who was forced to deal with the beginning of the American Revolution a year later. Suffering from a painful illness which he was attempting to treat with opium as well as depression regarding criticism of his time in India, Clive killed himself with a penknife on November 22, 1774. Such examination can occur with devices (e.g. - cameras) based on the ground, and/or sensors or cameras based on ships, aircraft, satellites, or other spacecraft. Today, the data obtained is usually stored and manipulated using computers. The most common software used in remote sensing is ERDAS Imagine, ESRI, MapInfo, and ERMapper. A Brief History of Remote Sensing Modern remote sensing began in 1858 when Gaspard-Felix Tournachon first took aerial photographs of Paris from a hot air balloon. Remote sensing continued to grow from there; one of the first planned uses of remote sensing occurred during theà ââ¬â¹U.S. Civil War when messenger pigeons, kites, and unmanned balloons were flown over enemy territory with cameras attached to them. The first governmental-organized air photography missions were developed for military surveillance during World Wars I and II but reached a climax during the Cold War. Today, small remote sensors or cameras are used by law enforcement and the military in both manned and unmanned platforms to gain information about an area. Todays remote sensing imaging also includes infra-red, conventional air photos, and Doppler radar. In addition to these tools, satellites were developed during the late 20th century and are still used today to gain information on a global scale and even information about other planets in the solar system. For example, the Magellan probe is a satellite that has used remote sensing technologies to create topographic maps of Venus. Types of Remote Sensing Data The types of remote sensing data vary but each plays a significant role in the ability to analyze an area from some distance away. The first way to gather remote sensing data is through radar. Its most important uses are for air traffic control and the detection of storms or other potential disasters. In addition, Doppler radar is a common type of radar used in detecting meteorological data but is also used by law enforcement to monitor traffic and driving speeds. Other types of radar are also used to create digital models of elevation. Another type of remote sensing data comes from lasers. These are often used in conjunction with radar altimeters on satellites to measure things like wind speeds and their direction and the direction of ocean currents. These altimeters are also useful in seafloor mapping in that they are capable of measuring bulges of water caused by gravity and the varied seafloor topography. These varied ocean heights can then be measured and analyzed to create seafloor maps. Also common in remote sensing is LIDAR - Light Detection and Ranging. This is most famously used for weapons ranging but can also be used to measure chemicals in the atmosphere and heights of objects on the ground. Other types of remote sensing data include stereographic pairs created from multiple air photos (often used to view features in 3-D and/or make topographic maps), radiometers and photometers which collect emitted radiation common in infra-red photos, and air photo data obtained by earth-viewing satellites such as those found in the Landsat program. Applications of Remote Sensing As with its varied types of data, the specific applications of remote sensing are diverse as well. However, remote sensing is mainly conducted for image processing and interpretation. Image processing allows things like air photos and satellite images to be manipulated so they fit various project uses and/or to create maps. By using image interpretation in remote sensing an area can be studied without being physically present there. The processing and interpretation of remote sensing images also have specific uses within various fields of study. In geology, for instance, remote sensing can be applied to analyze and map large, remote areas. Remote sensing interpretation also makes it easy for geologists in this case to identify an areas rock types, geomorphology, and changes from natural events such as a flood or landslide. Remote sensing is also helpful in studying vegetation types. Interpretation of remote sensing images allows physical and biogeographers, ecologists, those studying agriculture, and foresters to easily detect what vegetation is present in certain areas, its growth potential, and sometimes what conditions are conducive to its being there. Additionally, those studying urban and other land use applications are also concerned with remote sensing because it allows them to easily pick out which land uses are present in an area. This can then be used as data in city planning applications and the study of species habitat, for example. Finally, remote sensing plays a significant role in GIS. Its images are used as the input data for the raster-based digital elevation models (abbreviated as DEMs) - a common type of data used in GIS. The air photos taken during remote sensing applications are also used during GIS digitizing to create polygons, which are later put into shapefiles to create maps. Because of its varied applications and ability to allow users to collect, interpret, and manipulate data over large often not easily accessible and sometimes dangerous areas, remote sensing has become a useful tool for all geographers, regardless of their concentration. As noted in the above report, two are the key forms of e-learning, as identified in organizations globally: ââ¬Ëthe web-based training and the Supported Online Learningââ¬â¢ (CIPD 2009). Current paper focuses on the examination of a particular aspect of e-learning: its relationship with organizational culture. Emphasis is given to the potential dependency of e-learning on the nature of an organizationââ¬â¢s culture. The role of e-learning within modern organizations is critically reviewed. Then, the interaction between e-learning and the culture of each organization is critically discussed, taking into consideration the findings of studies that have been published in the particular field. 2. E-Learning as an element of the organization In accordance with Rosenberg (2006) e-learning is likely to provide solutions in ââ¬Ëinformational or instructional organizational problemsââ¬â¢ (Rosenberg 2006, p.72). The above description of e-learning is, partially, opposed with the most common role of this framework, as a tool covering various organizational needs, as analyzed below. On the other hand, Cross et al. (2002) note that the quality of e-learning, as part of an organizationââ¬â¢s plans, is not depended on the funds invested on the relevant project. Rather, it is an issue of managing effectively the resources available and being aware of current challenges of the organizationââ¬â¢s internal and external environment. However, the following problem should be highlighted: the term e-learning is often too vague (Servage 2006, p.304), i.e. the parts and the role of the relevant schemes are not clearly explained. This fact can have the following implication: the targets set by the schemeââ¬â¢s initiators are n ot achieved while valuable time and funds are spent without having the chance to be paid back. Despite the value of e-learning, its use in organizations is still limited, mostly because of its requirements. In accordance with a series of statistics published in CIPD, e-learning is mostly used in large organizations, at a percentage of 79% than in medium organizations ââ¬â the organizations with less than 250 employees are likely to use e-learning just at a percentage of 39% (CIPD 2008). It should be noted that the benefits of e-learning have not been made clear to employees. This problem is reflected in the following fact: in organization where e-learning schemes are available, the percentage of employees participating in these schemes is not over 60% (CIPD 2008). Moreover, the use of e-learning as the unique learning process within organizations seems to be avoided. In a relevant research developed by CIPD (2008) it was proved that most organizations (95%) prefer a blended lear ning scheme, i.e. a learning scheme in which e-learning is combined with other e-learning processes (CIPD 2008). The research developed by Servage (2006) led to the following finding: ââ¬Ëcost and technology are the most common challenges of e-learningââ¬â¢ (Servage 2006, p.304), a problem which cannot be easily resolved. Atmospheric air contains nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and rare inert gases. Of these, the two highly inevitable ones are oxygen and carbon dioxide. Theses are important for the survival of life n the planet: 02 is useful for animals and CO2 for photosynthesis in plants. The quality of these gases is determined by availability and its pollution-free state. Both factors have contributed to the present unfavorable status quo of these gases with respect to the sustenance of life on the planet. THE TREND Many conferences have held in nations of the world; quite a handful of International Summit have held to address the prevalent menace of environmental pollution that threatens all lives on the Earth. Daily, the number of endangered species increase, and many plants and animals have already gone into extinction as a result of the pollution affecting the quality of atmospheric gases available for daily cellular functions. Human activities such as deforestation and degradation, water pollution through oil spillage and poor river basin development programs have indeed played significantly roles. Besides, exhauist from mechanical equipment and vehicles, gaseous wastes from manufacturing industries, pollution with indiscriminate use of plants chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, etc have contributed to the reduction in the quality of air available to plants. This has affected the produce of plants, and the health of animals including humans. RECYCLING One must realize the fact that plants constitute a major recycling pathway for the purification of atmospheric air. Photosynthesis uses sunlight and such inorganic molecules like CO2 to produce organic compounds in the from of glucose. This is consumed by animals to produce CO2. O2 is used in oxidation of food in animals with carbon dioxide as byproduct. This pathway is important in determining the quality of atmospheric CO2 and O2, a byproduct of photosynthesis. This implies that any process, natural or man-made, that alters this pathway will affect the recycling process and the availability of good quality air for life. The threat of destruction of rainforest would have tremendous impact on future levels of these gases: It would cause an automatic alteration in the pathway describes above. Plants population would reduce and animals would suffer greatly for this. As a result of this imbalance, atmospheric oxygen and carbon dioxide would change accordingly. CONCLUSION The quality of atmospheric oxygen and CO2 has changes over the years. The threat of rainforest destruction would worsen the change in the future.
